Imagine Beautiful Legs, Free of unsightly Veins...

Unsightly veins can be a problem for millions of men and women, the world over. This problem affects a wide range of age groups, skin types and life styles.

It is estimated that in many areas over 60% of the adult population suffers from varicose veins and spider veins. varicose veins are enlarged vessels that have widened as a result of the weakness in the vein wall, which stretches and bulges.

Spider veins are small superficial purple or red veins stretching like a web under the skin.

What Type Of Leg Veins Can Be Treated?

Varicose veins, usually the deeper blue veins, need different treatment from the discoloured clusters (known as the spider veins) that are near the skin surface. For this reason, the Quantum ™ system is equipped with two different light technologies.

Until now, treating varicose and spider veins was a lengthy painful process with needles and other invasive treatments. Now using the latest combined technologies of the Quantam ™ system, all types of unsightly leg veins can be treated simply , non-invasivly, and successfully.

What Causes Varicose & Spider Veins?

No one knows the exact cause of spider and varicose veins, but there are several factors that cause a person to be more likely to develop them. Heredity, or being born with weak vein valves, is the greatest factor.

Hormones also play a role. The hormonal changes that occur during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, as well as taking estrogen, progesterone, and birth control pills can cause a woman to develop varicose veins or spider veins.

Other factors that weaken vein valves and that may cause varicose or spider veins include aging, obesity, leg injury, and prolonged standing, such as for long hours on the job.

Spider veins on the cheeks or nose of a fair-skinned person may occur from sun exposure.

Why Do Varicose & Spider Veins Usually Appear In The Legs?

Medical treatment usually is not required for varicose or spider veins. However, varicose veins can become quite uncomfortable as well as look unattractive. Varicose veins usually enlarge and worsen over time.

They can cause the legs and feet to swell. Although severe leg pain is not common, leg muscles may feel fatigued or heavy, or throb and cramp at night.

The skin on the legs and around the ankles also can itch or burn. In some cases, varicose veins and spider veins can cause more serious problems, and medical treatment will provide benefits.

If the veins become severe, they can cause a condition called venous insufficiency, a severe clogging of the blood in the veins that prevents it from returning to the heart.

Are Varicose & Spider Veins Painful Or Dangerous?

The veins in the legs have the toughest job of carrying blood back to the heart. They endure the most pressure -- pressure that can overcome the strength of these one-way valves.

The force of gravity, the pressure from body weight, and the task of carrying the blood from the bottom of the body up to the heart make the legs the primary location for varicose and spider veins.

This condition can cause problems like a deep-vein thrombosis (blood clot), or a severe bleeding infection. These usually are caused by injury to the varicose vein.

A blood clot can be very dangerous because of the possibility of it traveling from the leg veins to the lungs, where it may block the heart and lungs from functioning. Lastly, because the skin tissue around the varicose vein may not receive enough nourishment, sores or skin ulcers may develop.

What Technology Is Used For Deeper, Blue Veins?

The laser component of the Quantum ™ DL system is used to treat larger, deeper veins (i.e recticular veins). These veins respond to the precise energy level and wavelength of the light that is used.

The small spot of the laser travels through the skin and is absorbed by the blood within the vein on the basis of its colour.

This process does not affect any of the surrounding tissue. Over time the vein will be absorbed by the body and will disappear from sight.

Red blemishes from broken blood vessels and brown spots of pigment from sun damage respond to intense Pulsed Light. The light is changed to heat energy as it reaches to the level of the collagen beneath the skin surface.

Thank you soo much for getting rid of my ugly leg veins. I can't stop showing off my legs!

What Is Treatment Like?

A pulse of laser or Intense Pulsed Light energy may feel like a pinch similar to a snapped rubber band. Chilled gel on the skin and other techniques prevent discomfort.

The entire procedure is brief and noninvasive, no needles are used at any time.

During treatment non-invasive laser energy is absorbed by haemoglobin and converted to heat energy.

Immediately after treatment, blood coagulates and the vessel wall collapses.

After treatment, and over time the vessel is reabsorbed by the body and disappears.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Many leg veins need multiple treatments, often over a few months before the effect is complete. Even small vessels often require time to resolve. Sometimes a bit of "matting" or "staining" surrounds the treated vessel.

By using both technologies (Laser & IPL), your doctor can treat the vein and this minor temporary discolouration and offer a complete, excellent outcome.
